Senior Backend Software Engineer (Node.js/TypeScript)

Fully Remote (Monthly travel to Belfast)

My remote-first client is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to own their backend architecture, infrastructure, reliability, and security.

Senior Backend Software Engineer – Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain backend services with Node.js and TypeScript
• Own AWS infrastructure (Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM)
• Drive technical decisions and engineering best practices
• Improve CI/CD, observability, and platform reliability

Senior Backend Software Engineer - Experience Required:

• 5+ years' backend or full-stack experience with a backend focus
• Strong Node.js, TypeScript, AWS, and PostgreSQL skills
• Solid understanding of authentication, permissions, and API security
• Experience with DevOps practices, CICD, and production systems
• Clear communicator who is comfortable taking ownership

Senior Backend Software Engineer – Desirable Experience:

• Serverless or event-driven architectures
• Media processing, file handling, or asset management experience
• Startup or small product team experience
